PayforitNZ

The new payment service, supported by NZ mobile operators, is designed to make it easy to pay for low cost services on the mobile phone.

Welcome

PayforitNZ is the payment service, supported by NZ mobile operators, which is designed to make it easy for consumers to purchase applications and digital content through a safe payment environment on their mobile phone and have the charge added to their bill.

The Telecommunication Carriers’ Forum (the TCF) announced in July 2010 that the UK Payforit Trusted Mobile Payment Framework would be adopted by the in New Zealand mobile industry.

Background

The UK Payforit service was introduced in 2006, to allow mobile consumers in the UK to purchase content and have the charge added to their phone bill or, in the case of pre-pay customers, taken off their account balance. To find out more about the UK Payforit Scheme go to www.payforit.org

The New Zealand Payforit Trusted Mobile Payment Framework has revised the UK Payforit Scheme Rules and Payforit logo for the New Zealand mobile market. The objective of the Framework is to promote a trustworthy and consistent standard for purchasing content via mobile phone, so that consumers can buy with confidence when they are making one-off purchases or setting up subscription services via their mobile phone.

PayforitNZ

With PayforitNZ, customers don’t need a credit card or bank account to use the service – they don’t even need to sign up or register any details.  The whole process can be done using their mobile phone and purchases are charged back to their mobile account.

As in the UK, New Zealand licensed mobile network operators have accredited a number of Payment Intermediaries across a differing range of criteria for their suitability to operate a trusted payment scheme to ensure that the best interests of mobile consumers are protected while conducting online purchasing.  These Accredited Payment Intermediaries ensure that transactions are managed and processed in accordance with the TCF PayforitNZ TMP Code, so the payment experience for consumers is consistent, transparent and user-friendly at all times.  These improvements in user experience will help instill consumer confidence in paying by mobile, generating repeat business and improved conversion rates for merchants.

This information that APIs provide will be supported by the “PayforitNZ” logo, which will indicate to consumers that they are operating within the NZ PayforitNZ Trusted Mobile Payments Framework environment.

If the problem continues contact your network operator.
