The Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum (TCF) today announced that Ralph Chivers, the Forum’s chief executive, will be leaving on 5 June 2009.

The Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum (TCF) today announced that Ralph Chivers, the Forum’s chief executive, will be leaving on 5 June. Mr Chivers was TCF’s inaugural chief executive, appointed in October 2007. He is leaving the Forum to take up a new role as programme manager for the government’s $1.5 billion ultra-fast broadband initiative.
“Ralph’s contribution as the TCF’s first chief executive has been significant,” said Richard Westlake, TCF’s Independent Chair. “Becoming the TCF’s public face, he has raised the profile of the organisation, enabling it to take on new challenges and engage with a wider range of stakeholders.” |

“During his time with the Forum, Ralph has led the TCF into new territory, tackling some of the more difficult areas of industry policy. I particularly want to acknowledge the role Ralph took on earlier this year as the industry grappled to respond to the introduction of new copyright legislation. It was a new and complex challenge for TCF - Ralph’s leadership was fundamental in ensuring TCF was capable of meeting that challenge.”
Reflecting on his time as chief executive, Mr Chivers said, “I have enjoyed working at the heart of the telecommunications industry. It was initially a voyage of discovery to define this new role and how it would best serve the Forum. Now, as I look back over my eighteen months with TCF, I am very pleased and proud of its achievements and that I was able to be part of them.”
“Although I leave with regret, it is with the knowledge that the industry is in good shape to take up the opportunities and meet the challenges it will face in the future.”
The TCF Board and Members wish Ralph all the very best for the future.
The Board has started the process for finding Mr Chivers’ replacement.
