Richard Westlake appointed Independent Chair of the TCF

The Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum (TCF) is pleased to announced the appointment of Richard Westlake as Independent Chair of the Forum.

The Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum (TCF) is pleased to announced the appointment of Richard Westlake as Independent Chair of the Forum.

“We are delighted to have someone of Richard’s calibre and experience chairing the TCF Board,” Chief Executive Ralph Chivers said. “As a professional director and Chairman, he brings a wealth of senior governance experience to the TCF, including in the policy and standards arenas.”

Mr Westlake is the Director of Westlake Consulting Limited, a leading adviser in organisational governance, strategy, and structure with clients in New Zealand and across the globe. In the last few years he has completed significant consulting assignments in the ICT sector both locally and internationally. He is an independent director of Kiwibank, chairs the Standards Council of New Zealand, and has been Establishment Chair for two state-owned enterprises, MetService and Quotable Value.

In accepting the appointment, Mr Westlake observed, “The telecommunications industry is going through a period of fundamental change, where competitive models are transforming and adjacent industries are converging. It is a sector characterised by rapid change, technical innovation and incredible passion! I am very excited to have the opportunity to work with the TCF to build on their solid track record of successes in promoting the industry’s growth and development.”

Mr Westlake replaces Malcolm Alexander who chaired the TCF from its inception in 2002 to October 2008.
