TCF APPOINTS NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE

Balancing the promotion of competition and encouraging investment is a key challenge for the newly appointed CEO of the Telecommunications Carriers’ Forum.

David Stone, who will take up the CEO role in November 2009, plans to work with all of the industry stakeholders to develop consensus and ensure the New Zealand telecommunications industry prospers.

TCF chairman, Richard Westlake, believes the industry organisation will benefit greatly from having a recognised industry specialist at the helm.

“The TCF is delighted David can represent our entire industry and help us prosper in challenging times,” said Westlake.

Previously Vodafone New Zealand’s Head of Industry Affairs, and for the past two years a TCF Board member, Stone’s background spans more than a decade in the telecommunications industry, starting at CLEAR Communications Limited.

“Telecommunications is dynamic, fast paced and fascinating and plays an essential role in New Zealand’s growth and future prospects. It’s a great honour to have the confidence of the industry and the opportunity to help promote and grow it during a crucial period ,” Stone said.
