It’s been another busy year for the telecommunications sector across a number of projects and workstreams.
We have been working hard to get the National Environmental Standards for Telecommunications Facilities (NESTF) updated as part the Government’s resource management law reform process.
Close work has continued with Government and the Commerce Commission to ensure New Zealand has the most effective telecommunications environment and to support the economic growth of the country, the range of topics submitted on is detailed.
Fraud and scam prevention activity, alongside consumer education around online safety remains a pressing area of focus. Collaboration continues to grow with key stakeholders including government agencies and the banking sector as we work together to combat scams collectively and into the New Year.
Responses to emergency events throughout the year continued to keep us busy with the Telecommunications Emergency Forum (TEF) responding to 13 separate events in 2024.
