The mobile coverage maps standardised wording was developed through industry collaboration in response to the Commerce Commission’s Product Disclosure – Mobile Coverage Maps Guidelines (published 30/01/2025).
The aim is to provide customers with clear, consistent information about mobile coverage, regardless of which provider’s map they are viewing.
By including standardised wording alongside coverage maps, the industry is helping customers better understand what the maps show, the assumptions behind them, and the factors that may affect real-world coverage.
This approach supports transparency and enables more informed decision-making when comparing mobile services.
