While the country winds down for our summer break, there’s still a lot to do here in telecommunications.
The 3G shutdown has begun with 2degrees switching off its rural 3G connectivity and both One NZ and Spark also on track towards national shutdown by the end of Q1 2026. Awareness is high among customers and there is plenty of support for those still trying to work out what to do next. We will be monitoring over the summer months to make sure everyone is able to transition safely to the new world.
On top of that, the Anti-Scam Alliance continues to define its role and how it will operate and some exciting projects have begun to take shape that will have an impact on the ratbags and their ability to steal from Kiwi. Our aim is to make life too difficult for them so they leave New Zealanders alone, and some of this work will go a long way towards achieving that.
The RE:MOBILE FY25 annual report recently published tracks the changing landscape of e-waste. And we welcome a new CEO to the fold, albeit on an interim basis. Find out more about Tuatahi’s new boss below.
Have a wonderful break, if you’re getting one, and stay safe. We look forward to reconnecting in the new year.
