TCF September 2025 Newsletter

Sep 30, 2025

We’re racing through the year towards Christmas but there’s still plenty going on in the telco space, where we continue to support ongoing emergency management efforts and technological advances, making it easier for first responders to find people in cases of emergency.

The 3G shutdown programme continues apace with the introduction of pre-recorded announcements to remind customers to check, update or upgrade their devices and make sure they stay connected.

We’ve also been busy with ongoing support of the Anti-Scam Alliance work. Telecommunications lead the “disruption” pillar of work along with New Zealand Police and we also have a huge role to play in terms of the “collaboration” pillar. This work will be essential in terms of taking the fight to scammers and making life too difficult for them to operate in New Zealand.

And I’m pleased to see Nicky Preston featuring this quarter as our telco personality. Nicky leads both the corporate affairs function for One NZ and also its sustainability work, something that is dear to her heart.
